Overhead Magnetic Separators & Conveyor Magnets

Ensure product purity, protect equipment and prevent downtime

Shields magnetic separators and belt magnets serve as an insurance policy in industrial applications ranging from food and aggregate processing to coal mining and plastics production and recycling. Our separation equipment removes damaging ferrous metal from raw and finished materials throughout all stages of production including conveyor belts, grain hoppers and flow systems.

Adding overhead separators, drum magnets or crossbelt magnets can save your organization thousands of dollars in lost product and materials, damage to your production equipment and help improve up-time. All of our magnetic separators use powerful Grade 8 permanent magnets and can be ordered to spec, including electromagnets. We’ll work with your to customize a separation system that will fit your facility and application perfectly.

All of our industrial magnets carry a lifetime guarantee on strength

Utilizing state-of-the-art technology and the most advanced materials available, Shields magnetic sweepers are innovative, functional, and effective.  Our entire line of sweepers carries a lifetime guarantee on strength and a full product performance guarantee. All of our industrial magnets originate in the USA.

Companies Rely on Shields Separator Magnets

Conveyor Magnet for High Volume Industrial Flow

Type CM3 Super Strength Conveyor Magnet with Auto Load Release

Our Type CM3 is designed to remove larger ferrous metal such as bucket teeth, drill bits, and rebar from high-volume industrial flow. Capable of living items up to four inches below the unit, the Type CM3 Super Strength Conveyor Magnet with Auto Load Release is a “no-maintenance” item and carries a lifetime guarantee on magnetic strength.

Permanent Magnetic Separator for Processing Environments

Stationary Separator Magnets

Permanent Suspension Magnets are designed specifically for the extraction of occasional tramp iron from material being processed on the conveyor belt, vibratory feeder or gravity chute. These overhead magnets are constructed using Grade 8 high power ceramic magnets and require no electricity, unlike electro type units.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is availability?

A: We stock most sizes but if we don’t have what your application requires, we can generally produce a unit within 2 weeks.

Q: What is the cost?

A: We have over 40 different sizes so there is no “one size fits all”.  Once we know your application, we quote immediately.

Q: Do the magnets come with mounting hardware?

A: The stationary separators come equipped with sling chain for suspension, 4 turnbuckles for attaching and a swipe arm for easy cleaning.  The Self-Cleaning Crossbelt Magnets are equipped with turnbuckles for mounting.

Q: Do you have sample units?

A: We don’t put units out on “loan”, they are too big.  This is why we use a criteria form and ask a host of questions about each application.  We get the sizing right every time, all the time.  In over 25 years, we have never mis-sized a unit or had a unit returned.
