Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How much are the belt magnets?
A: We have over 40 sizes of belt magnets and stationary separators so first we have to determine what your application is. This is a very fast process and we can do it over the phone or you can fill out the on-line criteria sheet.
Q: Are the units in stock?
A: We stock many sizes but if not, turnaround is quite fast.
Q: Do the magnets come with mounting hardware?
A: The stationary separators come equipped with sling chain for suspension, 4 turnbuckles for attaching and a swipe arm for easy cleaning. The Self-Cleaning Crossbelt Magnets are equipped with turnbuckles for mounting.
Q: Are these electro-magnets?
A: We do offer electro-magnets however unless your application is extreme, you do not need an electro, given today’s technology a permanent magnet will do the job perfectly. We offer Tri-Polar Magnetic Circuitry in most units, which is exclusive to the industry. This eliminates peripheral “leakage” and directs magnetic field directly down to the conveyor.
Q: What sort of power is required?
A: 3 Phase 230 or 460 is standard to drive the belt on the Crossbelt Magnets. You may also choose hydraulic drive at no extra cost. The Stationary Separators require no power source.
Q: Are these self-cleaning units?
A: We offer both self-cleaning and manually cleaned units. The self-cleaning units are called “Crossbelt Magnets” and have continuously running belts rotating around the magnet. The manually cleaned units are called “Stationary Separators” and these units are equipped with either slide trays for easy debris removal or swipe arms.
Q: Do these come with chains?
A: All the units are equipped with suspension eyebolts and sling chain.
Q: Do you offer anything smaller?
A: We have a “one-size fits all” unit, the Type CM-3 Conveyor Magnet, which is essentially a low cost insurance policy for lighter applications or to be used in conjunction with a larger unit or a magnetic head pulley. These can be purchased directly on the site or by calling us as well.
Q: What is the Warranty?
A: All units carry a lifetime guarantee on magnetic strength. There is a one year warranty on belts and parts.
Q: How do These Ship?
A: Some of the smaller Type CM-3 Conveyor Magnets can ship UPS or FedEx Ground. The larger units ship common carrier.
